Upper Lobby:  This is
the upper library of the
Library of Congress.
Logan Circle:  These buildings
near Washington, D.C. were
built between 1875 and 1900.    
John Logan started the practice
of putting flowers on the graves
of Civil War vet
erans, a practice
which led to the establishment
of Memorial Day.
Library of Congress:  The
largest library in the world with  
a record of every book ever
printed in the United States.  A
source of research for
Congress, it occupies three
building:  Thomas Jefferson
Building, John Adams Building,
and the James Madison Building.
Thomas Jefferson Building:
 It was built in 1897.  The
style of the building is
Italian Renaissance.  
National Cathedral:  This  
church is actually named
the  Protestant Episcopal
Cathedral Church of Saint
Peter and Saint Paul.
Smithsonian Institution:  The Smithsonian, established in 1846,  
consists of 16 museums and is the largest museum complex in
the world.  This building is called The Castle.  
Japanese Pagoda:  This stone
pagoda was given to the city of
Washington, D.C. by the mayor
of Yokohama in 1958 as a
symbol of friendship.
