WASHINGTON, D.C. ZOO
Tigers:  This pair of tigers is resting on a
ledge in the Washington, D.C. Zoo.  There are
only 5,000-7,000 wild tigers in the world.  
Hunters kill them for their fur and to make
medicine from their bones.
Flamingos:  These pink flamingos have long
legs and long necks.  They eat by dipping their
heads under water and scooping backward
with their heads upside down.   
Gorilla:  Gorillas live throughout Africa.  Adult
males are 6 feet (1.8 m) tall and 310-400 pounds
(140-180 kg).  In the wild, they live to be 35
years old.  Gorillas eat fruits, leaves, roots, and
stems.
Giraffe:  Giraffes have long legs, long necks,
and  spots.  Males grow to be 17 feet (5.3 m) tall
and about 4,200 pounds (1,900 kg).   They have
a life span of about 25 years in the wild.
